So here's the thing, my mother-in-law is looking for an EASY camera. This has led me to the Kodak line of which I think the LS743 will fit the bill. My only concern is that none of the Kodak Cameras have a AF Assist lamp. Now the Canons do, and the A75 is in the price range (the A85 is probably just over what we were lookign to spend). What do you guys think about the Lack of AF lens vs. the Loss of 1MP.

Also what about the "easyness" of the Canon Cameras?

What size prints is she doing, the loss of 1MP will most likely be purely acedemic if she is not printing over 8x10, you would be better off with the AF assist for indoor shots, and Kodaks over aggressive jpeg compression would probably nullify any benefit of the extra 1MP.

Ok. Thanks for the Heads Up.
SO what of the ease of use of the Canon interface and software vs. that of the Kodak?
