Hello there,
Here are some problems with my S3IS lens...
The black line appear in the left up corner is the "problem"...
Any idea what is that? is a hair? Is dust?
How can I solve that?
Thanks you all replying to my question.
If you can't clean it with a lens cloth or lens cleaning solution then I would return or exchange the camera immediately. You will not be able to repair that yourself without simple cleaning. If you've had it too long then you might need to send it to Canon for repair. Good luck!

Wow. Can you see anything in the lens looking from the front? Are you using any type of filters? The bigger question is how would it get reversed in the 3rd picture.

Are you kidding? He took the shot with the camera on its side. The mark is exactly the same only rotated 90 degrees.

Well I didn't pick up on that right away either. Maybe next time you could be a little kinder in how you respond.

Is "are you kidding?" really an insult? Do you imagine that I am laughing and pointing and mocking you while I write that? How would you know? Maybe I legitimately and politely was unsure whether or not it was intended as a joke...
The level of rudeness inherent in my post was so minimal (nonexistent almost) depending on how you read it... It isn't reasonable to expect me or anyone to be so hypersensitive as to be extremely careful posting something that mild.
Please realize that a few characters in a post could be interpreted a lot of different ways, and it's important to give some leeway to the way you might guess something is said. I'm not going to accept responsibility for your potential offense. I really don't mean anything personal, I mean how could I, I don't even know you. In fact, I'll give you some leeway and assume that I'm currently totally misinterpreting your post and that you probably didn't mean EITHER post all that seriously. So let's just laugh and be done with it and realize we can't know everything we mean through these little posts. Let's let the thread get back to the poster's concerns about his lens.
Peace.

That's the bad thing about the internet, one can not tell the tone of the remark. No hard feelings here....after all we are all here to learn. :)

Look closer. It is there in all of the pictures.
Has the glass been cleaned? Looks like a dirty lens to me.
My theory is that it's some kind of hair either inside the lens or between the lens and the sensor. In the photos where the thing is more evident you have an aperture of f/5.6, in the ones where it is less evident, f/4.0. This tells me what ever it is is close to the focal plane.
Try shooting some shots in M mode with the lens stopped down(small aperture f/8.0 is good)If the object is more evident then it's close to the focal plane and is internal. If it is inside a trip to Canon is likely.
I don't think it's as simple as a hair in the lens element. Something that thin doesn't usually show up because it is not in the focal plane. It looks like a sensor problem to me. Try cleaning the glass first. If that doesn't help, you should definitely send it in.
