I just got my A550 and cannot get my software to work. I downloaded it and cannot get the pictures transfered to the Zoombrowser. I tried to reinstall it w/ the same results. However I do know the connection is working for i can access them through my C drive going under my computer. its kinda starting to piss me off... any tips would be appreciated.
thanx

It's a workaround, not a fix, but buy a $10 USB card reader and you won't have to deal with connecting your camera to the computer. It's faster, simpler, and generally works without any problems.
But you said you can't get the pix off your camera. What actions are you taking, and what are the error messages?

i don't have any error readings. my brother showed me another system to use instead of using my Canon Software and it works find. We cannot figure out why my initial camera software that reads/downloads the pics does not work. So, as of now i have to use another software to read my pics and download them, then i can upload them to the Zoombrowser. It makes no sense at all.

Why worry about using ZoomBrowser at all? There's free, photo organizing software such as Picasa and Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition that are far better than Canon's, and also not camera-specific.

I had the same problem with the Canon software. I think this is how it was fixed. Try this:
1. Go to Start-run and type in 'services.msc' click ok.
2. Double click on 'Canon Camera Access Library 8'.
On the General tab, make sure 'startup type' is in automatic. Click OK
Canon Camera Access Library relies on the following so make sure they are set on auto too:
3. Scroll down to SSDP Discovery Service, double click and make sure 'startup type' is in auto (mine was disabled) on the General tab. Apply or ok.
4. Then scroll down to Windows Image Acquisition. Double click and make sure 'startup type' is in auto. Apply or ok.
Restart the computer to make changes effective.
Plug in the camera and turn on. Camera Window should appear.
