DOF with an S3 ??

I have tried a fe wthings and each time the pictures come in complete focus.. any way to get the DOF look using this camera ( and w/o resorting to PS)

You need to turn the camera to Ap mode and adjust the apeture to adjust the DOF.

Show some examples so we can help trouble shoot more

Use full optical zoom and back away until the subject in in frame. A bigger degree of separation between the subject and background will also help

turn to Ap mode? and here I was in manual ;) ok will give it ago again in the morning!

Wide open aperture at full optical zoom, manual mode for better exposure control, spot metering

Oh yeah manual mode for sure. Didn't know what you were using before, sorry my error.

Macro mode will also get you a good DOF effect.
