Any contest that awards you a prize is worth to me. Even if it is just a blue ribbon at the county fair I consider that worth it.

No slam on other contests intended. But I believe this one's worthy of notice to a greater extent than average.

For one thing, it's bound to attract some top caliber entries. It's bound to get lots of attention. The victors shall be highly honored and the prize (besides the cash) a noteworthy one. "I won the $25,000 Smugmug contest." seems a bit more than "I got picked for the photo of the week on FM".

But that's just my opinion. Based on the lack of responses, I think most here are uninterested in photo contests. It was more of a heads up.
