Help!- Optio S4 poor flash picture quality

Looking for suggestion on how to improve picture quality using the flash on the optio s4. Typically use night mode, 2304x1728, ***, AWB, Multiple or spot (both bad), sensativity auto. In general images are blurred. Tried using a stand no improvement. Any suggestions?

What are you taking pictures of?

Night mode enlongates the shutter speed so that low-light backround objects such as a cityscape can also be recorded. If you are taking pics of general subjects within the flash range using night mode, then no wonder why you are getting blurry pics.
