Hey, interesting, nice idea. These are generally nice recordings, though I've got to point out that they're not all of equal quality; there's some variation in how "full" the sound is, probably a result of recording facing different locations of the camera, and thus getting soundwaves which are affected by different objects.

I love that nice soft shutter of the D80; incidentally that's exactly how the D40 sounds in real life; actually the D40 recording sounds virtually identical, just captured a less full sound. So I'll go with the D80 as my favorite. The Sony Alpha is a close second: very crisp, but just a little too sharp.

... although... I must admit the sound of the D200 machine-gunning away is quite titillating.

As for my least favorite, well, I hate the post-shutter "wheeze". I'd probably have to go with the Panasonic, although the Pentax K10D is also slightly sharp, could be an annoyance.

I personally like the shutter release sound of the Sony Alpha dSLR-A100 and the Canon EOS 5D the best. (Though I preferred the louder slap of the Sony Alpha A100's mirror - both are just as cool to my ears. :cool: )

I think that the shutter sound recordings are pretty accurate. The Olympus EVOLT E-500 sounded just as it is in the real life, though not as loud depending on speakers setting...So are the Canons' - they sounded just like in real.

I think that the Pentax sounded awful though (Both of them). ;)

I wish I could also post the shutter sound release of my Nikon F100 35mm SLR in here; it really sounds like the Canon EOS 5D's shutter release in here. (My Nikon F100 does 4.5fps. ;) )
