Hi all! I am new to the forum and have the following dilemma.

Considering:
1. Tamron 18-250mm
2. Sigma 18-200mm with OS (coming in the next month or two)

I want a one lens walkabout approach to take on my own tourist trips that obviously covers wide and narrow so that wherever I go and whatever I shoot the lens is capable, and is relatively small for my Rebel XT. I have never used Image Stabilization technology on the narrow end so I don't know if it's a huge deal or not (handheld only, I don't care to tote along a Tripod).

Reviews site the Tamron 18-250 as a better lens than the Sigma 18-200mm without the OS (OS = Image Stabilization) or the Tamrom 18-200 for that matter despite the smaller focal range.

Questions are:
1) Is the new Sigma model w/ OS better than the non OS version in other ways as well to improve upon the non OS Sigma?
2) Is the inclusion of Vibration/Image Stabilization worth waiting for regardless of if the Sigma turns out to be better than the non OS version?
