Hello,

I am planning on doing some travelling and I am looking at DSC-M1 because of its excellent video capabilities in a compact size (I put hight importance on camera being easy to carry around).

I have heard that the still image quality is not that great with the M1. Is there a better option? Here is a list of compact DCs that I have found.

1) DSC-M1 - Seems to be the leader. EX Video, OK Stills, Expensive
Memory
2) Pentax Optio MX - Retro design, cheaper SD memory
3) Sanyo DMX-C4 - Looks cheap
4) D-Snap SV-AS3 - Cool but, Only Japan
5) Samsung Miniket - Not Released

Any opinions on these cameras? What is the best DC for mpeg4 video and MP stills?

Thanks much, Eric.

I own a C770UZ which takes pretty good MPEG4 and great photos too. Only a small drawback, optical zoom not usable with sound, unless you use an external mic. And it's not too big, about the average P&S film camera.

I believe the MPEG4 capabilities won't be as good as the ones you listed, but the stills should be very very much better.
