View Full Version : Over-exposure issue

I was at a tulip festival this weekend and some of my photos came out looking over-exposed (at least to me). Interestingly, not all came out looking like this. I could set the exposure level (EV) lower but I typically haven't seen this problem in the past. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations.
The conditions were:
Bright and sunny out
Used Canon A640
Circular polarizer
Redhancer filter
My initial suspect is the Redhancer filter since I have only just started using it, but now I'm thinking I was jumping to conclusions.
Here's one of the example photos:

Can you post your exif data for the picture? Maybe once we see that we can try and help you out.
Interesting. I honestly wonder if the polarizer could have done this as the effectiveness depends on the placement of the sun. I am only guessing on this though. Someone else with more experience or knowledge of this would have to confirm.

Nevermind. I just found the problem when I looked at the Exif data.
I must have accidently adjusted the exposure compensation to be +2/3. I don't remember doing this but that would certainly explain the results.

I would think a little post processing would bring back your color as it is a good photo except for the exposure.
I almost wish the camera would return to defaults on some things when powered off. I too often forget to check every setting before taking a shot especially if it is one I need to get quickly.

Glad you got it figured out.
I made similar mistakes in the beginning. I found that I would either forget check the settings or get so excited about shooting that I didn't check the settings.
My solution was to change things back to default after shooting so it was ready for sure next time.
