Sony DSC-T30 digital camera

I am new to this camera and now trying to use the AC Adaptor Pack to upload some photos that I took. I am looking at the Manual for the camera and also at the AC Adaptor Pack instructions. The instructions make no sense to me and the diagram in the instructions does not match what I see on my T30.

The AC Adaptor instructions says:

1. Open the battery cover of your digital still camera and insert the connecting cord (DK-2AA) after confirming its direction. Then close the battery cover.

2. Connect the AC Adaptor to the connecting cord (DK-2AA).

3. Connect the AC Power cord to the AC Adaptor.

4. Connect the AC Power cord to the wall outlet.

MY CONFUSION LIES WITH #1 ABOVE. The diagram shows an opening at the BOTTOM of the camera, but when I look at my real camera, the bottom does not open up although there is a port for some kind of cable.

Also: The term BATTERY COVER was previously used (in the camer manual) to reference the slot on the SIDE, not the BOTTOM, of the T30.

I don't want to experiment with sticking metal into ports because I fear damaging the camera.

PLEASE can someone explain to me exactly where that so-called battery cover is (as described in the AC Adaptor instruction sheet)? From there I will try to match up the right cords to the camera and to the wall outlet, but I am so stymied by the diagrams that do not correspond to my reality!!!

Thank you.
Lorna

The dk-2aa part of the adapter is an optional part for Sony cameras that use AA batteries.

Your camera does not use AA batteries, so feel free to skip that part.

Connect the Ac lead to the port on the bottom of the camera.

I guess the reason the instructions talk about battery covers and the bottom of the camera is because the adapter is used for multiple cameras and most Sony cameras have the battery cover on the bottom not the side.

Hi Sintares..... I was so frustrated that I decided to do the uploading with the battery in the camera.... and now that battery has gone down because of the unnecessary usage. However, I will follow your instructions for the next time I upload digital files from the Sony DSC-T30 to my iMac.

QUESTION: Is that port that small thin rectangular slot or is it the round slot? Until I know that, I won't know which AC lead cable to stick where....

And thank you sincerely for your help. I remember that you helped me with questions when I first got the camera a couple of months ago.

The thin rectangular port is the combined usb/av/dc in port.

The round hole is the mounting hole for a tripod.

I appreciate the help, Sintares, and feel a little chagrined that I didn't check the diagram in the manual before asking the question about rectangle or round.
