My S230 flash seems a little weak to me, I was also concerned with the SD300 and it's smaller size. But my SD300 seems to work better with the flash indoors. Maybe it's the new technology, maybe a different flash, I don't know. But I'm now satisfied with the flash of my SD300.

Hi there
I bought the SD300 (ixus40 here) in mid November, left for Beijing, China a week later and came back a week later with over 1000 shots. In short, it's a great little camera. The flash is small, but what I did was use the FEL function, similar to AEL (which is also available) to compensate my flash photography. However, long (say 18ft and beyond) shots tend to be a little darker and noise is present. Close shots with flash are just fine...
