HELP ! Powershot A530 doesn´t zoom anymore

I borrowed an A530 to test it, took about 80 shots with different settings and everything was OK. Later the day I wanted to have some more shots and now the camera doesn´t zoom anymore ! What could be wrong ? It still takes pictures, and when I view pictures and move the zoom switch, it switches from single picture view to thumbnail view. Battery symbol is not on (I don´t have a battery charger, it´s borrowed). I handled the camera very careful, never dropped it, never used force to do anything.

ANY quick help is welcome, gotta hand it back today.

Make sure you´re in Record mode, in Playback mode the lenses won´t move, if it was your camera i would suggest you to send it to repair if it´s in warranty given it´s not yours, you and your friend will have to accept thas these things happen, hope it´s in warranty, if it is and there´s no evident sign of misuse in the camera, Canon will have to repair or replace the unit at no cost

Hi I had a zoom error with a Fuji camera, I know its not the same but I found my solution in a tech support site. I believe you can find a solution for your camera as well.
