This room was quite contrasty, but I wanted to capture the mood of the low-light. Sorry if these next few are not to everyone's taste but I have to keep trying new things. Feedback welcome.

Gorgeous bride, very nice series of black and white posing.
Very nice also that you make do with the available light. The "dark dungeon" shot feels empty without your 14mm...

cw your work is always consistent. almost like it's nothing to come up with great photos every time you go out. how hard is it to get them to just do what you want..pose wise? i guess what i mean is...do you tell them before the wedding that you will be arranging them and telling them what to do so they'll know what's coming? are they ever hesitant or do they just listen to you?

Thanks Adam.
We just wing it on the day. Some couples (like these guys) are better than others in that they interacted very well together anyway - always canoodling (can't believe I just used that word) and engaging well.
This means that the unposed shots are relatively easy - just have to find the right angle.
It also means that the posed ones are easier as they are relatively comfortable doing stuff together.
So I just normally tell them to stand where I want and direct them; turn bodies toward each other, look various ways, a bit further around, hand on shoulder, etc etc.
They are usually quite comfortable with it as I build up a decent rapport with them - that's the key really.
And you'll soon work out where they're not comfortable (some couples don't like to kiss much, or they look awkward/uncomfortable doing so, some don't like to sit down for fear of ruining the dress  etc) - and you just move on to something else.
I must say this wedding was great because we had a good rhythm/rapport. They enjoyed themselves and it makes my job soooo much easier - the story is already there. :)
I was testing some new boundaries with this one - for the most part I think it worked, but you guys can judge that. :D

Hey CW! When I grow up, I wanna be just like you...except with more hair.
I like the new stuff. Looks like you had a nice clear night for the outdoor shots! I like how they add variety to the day.
Did you do the B&W conversion later or did you shoot it monochrome in camera?

Christian - top notch as always. My only suggestion on the low-light/low-key shots would be to maybe use a reflector (I know you like natural light and I'm with you on that one!) to throw just a bit back onto her face and dress. Here's just a quick bit of dodging to give you an ideal.

Well Ceedub how many WP's use a 300 like that:cool:
I rekon this is the best set of the year IMO
Have you renewed your interest or gotten over a low patch?
Either way your work has jumped up a notch lately
Oh an that 85 has a fantastic perspective too it:cool:
When I screwed that old German 135 on my camera the first thing that hit me was the way the perspective isolates the subject, I rekon that 85 does it better, so thanks for making me want to spend a few k on another lens:p

Thank you muchly JMW (I think).
B&W was a basic DPP conversion from an original RAW.

Great to see you challenging yourself and trying new things. I love this series, looks like you had a bit more fun especially with the outside golf shots. How many weddings are you doing a year?
