Hmmm...
One of my friends is interested in my XT. It's 1 year old, 8000 shutter cycles used on it, pristine shape. The warranty just ended but was just calibrated before it ended from Canon.
It has everything from the original box. B&H is selling it for about 500 and I should be able to get 400-450 from my friend.
Should I let it go?
I know i should probably have a backup camera but in the other sense it will offset my cost going to the 30D.

Tough one, can you see yourself doing anything that requires quick lens changes?

If I ever purchase a 70-200 then yes, otherwise not particularly... but my main beast would be the 17-55, occasionally switching out with the 85.

I keep my XT with kit lens for lite DSLR days. :)

Sell that sucker!
Unless you want a lightweight dSLR for travel then I'd agree - sell and get a 2nd 30D.
I have a 30D and an XT. The XT is good as a lightweight travel camera. It's a handy backup to my 30D too. As it was a wedding present, it will never be for sale but will be repaired until it cannot be repaired any more, when/if it needs repairs.

If you can get that much for it dump it now- it is only going to depreciate further.

For another 30D? What for? Or is it going to be your first 30D I am abit confused here since your sig. seems to indicate you have a 30D already.
I have both and I enjoy the XT for travelling around. And I still have some sentimental attachment to it as it has proven itself in winning some monetary awards. Are there anything that your XT can't do that you need to sell it?
I won't sell the XT yet until all current stock of XTs are gone because u will be competing with brand new XT at the store at heavily discounted rate.

I think i'm just going to keep the camera for secondary use. the 30d is kinda large for me to carry around and operate with one hand... I suppose I will get used to it but so far not too bad....

You'll get used to it in no time flat. The 30D with a battery grip is my small carry around camera.
