I couldn't resist, here's my reasoning:
1) The 400/2.8 IS is a fantastic lens, but for AFL I find I am always coupling it with the 1.4x if the light is good. As good as this combo is, I really wanted the right tool.
2) I got it for under USD6k plus shipping (approx AUD8.8k delivered including all duties). It is a refurb but indistinguishable from new.
3) I am starting up a lens/camera rental business (already had my first client) and this will legitimise the line-up.
4) I am an L'coholic.

Impressive product shots mate!:D Side by side it's hard to believe anyone complains about the 70-200 f/2.8 as being to big and heavy.
I'm sure I'm not the only one looking forward to seeing your shots with the new family member- you do have a nack for making those big white things really perform at their best!
It won't be long before CPS starts calling on your for gear.

eeekk...that formal pose looks a little precarious given the foot they are standing on. Lucky none of your little ones (kids) were running around at the time.
Nice collection! And here I am hoping I can save up for a 70-200 2.8 IS before my Sept 15 wedding.:o :(
...hmmm wait...so what's your rate to the US?;)
Can't wait to see what you capture with that bazooka...although, your daughter is getting close to that dating age. I think you'd be able to stay at a safe distance with that thing and keep eye on the young mates.

CW- You know you're starting to get carried away with your glass collection when you have to consult your manual to find the minimum focal distance before taking a moon shot!;)

I dont know what concerns me more, the fact that you have never slummed it like us mortals with f/4 lenses or that you are concerned that your 600mm lens is f/4:D
Which ever it is, I am envious!

Come clean CW....you didn't really lose that lens the other week at the AFL...did you. Just a story for the wife so you could buy another lens.
By the way, I seem to have lost your address, can you re-post it please :D

Funny you should say that. I took these shots late last night when I thought all had gone to sleep. She came downstairs to get a bottle for the young fella and 'sprung' me with this get-up.
She looked at them and said "are they all yours?". To which I replied: "of course, you've seen them before - perhaps not all together?". :D
BTW, you can reach me at 1800 GET STUFFED. :D
