View Full Version : I'm lost
I'm lost in digital camera information. I want a camera that has good shutter reaction, a larger LCD screen, decent zoom, quality prints, uses AA batteries with good battery life, controls redeye, easy to share via e-mail..........I think those are the basics. My husband picked up a Sony syber-shot DSC W1 for me this week but I'm not sure I if I should keep it or return to the store for something else.

The W1 is a good all around choice. No too much or too little. The V1 is the high end version of this camera with a hot shoe, and hologram AF, but it is unlikely you will need these (for $200 more).
My wife has the predicessor to the V1 (S85) and it has done a wonderful job of day-to-day shooting over the past few years.
Enjoy.
Bon Foto.

I want a camera that has good shutter reaction,
There are several sites that have reviews that give shutter lag times. Just decide what you want, and make a list of the cameras that have those times.
decent zoom,
Just about every camera out there has zoom, and they are all decent. And too, what is decent for one person can be either too much or too little for the next. You might consider letting the readership know how much zoom you need.
quality prints,
How big? Print size determins needed megapixels, and knowing how many mp's you need will be helpful in determining camera suggestions.
controls redeye,
The camera does not control redeye. Redeye comes from using the flash, so therefore can happen with any camera with which you are using flash. There are however some that are better than others, but none will absolutely stop it when using flash. To minimize redeye, look for cameras that have the flash positioned as far away from the lens as possible.
easy to share via e-mail
All cameras pretty much work the same way when it comes to getting the pics from camera to computer.

Why - what is the camera doing wrong?
I think if you will determine how many mp's you need and how much zoom you want, you can then go to the review sites and find the camera that will meet your shutter lag time requirements. If you still need help, you can let the readership here know these things, and they will probably be able to give you a few suggestions. IOW, at this point there are about 500 cameras that meet your specifications above. If you want helpful suggestions, you've got to narrow things down a bit....
