There have been many people on different forums expressing their concerns regarding VPN (Vertical Pattern Noise) in the Pentax K10D. Although I haven't experienced this anomaly, those who have done so feel that Pentax have not addressed these concerns. Can a Firmware Update resolve this issue? Is it exclusive to Pentax or does it come down to understanding the limits of the digital domain. I tend to believe that if ones exposure is correct within reason, that this issue does not crop up.

The issue is an issue because it happens in no other brand of camera at such low ISO's. Even ISO 100 pushed more then a stop sometimes shows it.

I have had my K10D since 11/17/2006 . . . used it with many different lenses (I have chronic LBA) under a wide variety of conditions and never experienced the VPN phenomenon. :D
I tend to agree with Benjikan . . . maybe it is an exposure issue??? Quality of lens??? Hard to say since I have never experienced the problem.

...in situations where it was very dark, I underexposed the picture and then lightened it a lot in PP. I have never seen it under 1600 ISO. Some obsess over this but I've yet to see any actual pics w/ VPN at low ISOs.
