Anyone have WT-3 or MC-30/36 remotes and D200?
If so can you activate continues bracketed shooting with either?
Thanks :D

After seeing the price on the WT-3, I guess I should just be asking the question for MC-30/36.
I myself am looking into remotes for the D200.
The WT-3 isnt THAT bad is it? LOL!

Most internet sales sites are blocked from my work and I have not looked from home, but from what I see it goes for close to $500. It also serves as vertical extra battery grip, I think have not actually seen one. Why could'nt they just make it like my D50 so the ML-L3 remote would work. I love my D200 but this is the only thing I don't like about it.

When I get my D200, I will ALSO get the WT-3a. The only doubt is whether I ever get the D200 (or end up waiting long enough to get the D300):(
I will be using that to 'push' photos to a FTP server, and on that server have a back-end process that 'sees' them show up and adds them to a SQL Server database.... If THAT doesn't get me into the clique then I will NEVER make it in!

Stoller,
You do realize that the WT-3 is not really a remote control that is even "remotely" like the ML-L3. It is a ethernet adapter / client which as you mention is housed in a vertical grip.

Oh Great! Now I have get a camera bag big enough to fit my PC in...
I guess I will have to just go with the MC-30 or MC-36. and have a cord to trip over.
A bit off track(sorry Stoller) but has there been any word on the D300? I havent heard anything about it. If you dont mind the wait Tcad, it might be worth it to hold out for the D300. THEN you will be in the clique, ofcourse I have to run it by Prospero first:o
If its worth the "upgrade" I might seriously consider the D300 myself.

Why aren't you considering this?

oh yeah... I kinda left the remote part out of that WT-3... It is both ethernet (wired) AND wireless-B/G. So it IS wireless, just not something that you would use without a laptop / computer.

oops missed your post. JCON.
No... I am just taking too long getting my business off its feet. By the time I can justify the upgrade there will likely be the D200 successor... After all, the D200 has been around for a while now.

Never seen that?
A remote cord will work fine, the main thing I am looking for is to a able to shoot continous bracketed shots (5 exposures plus not manually activating each exposure) at very slow shutter speeds for landscape HDR's on a tripod. If you have not used the D200 you have to hold the bracket button and shutter button to shoot continous bracketed. Maybe I'm crazy but it is quick and easy instead of counting how many times you push the shutter button to match how many times you have set the camera to take bracketed. Hope this make sense? :D

You sure? I thought I had tried this out, and with the camera in continuous mode, after setting up the number of bracketted shots, as well as the interval, all I had to do was hold down the shutter-release until all shots had been taken.
Heck - maybe I don't want that D200 after all. ;)

99% sure but it's been a few weeks since I played with bracketing. I'll double check tonight.

When you can bracket up to 9 shots and the camera shoots up to 5fps if the camera just fired bracketed in continous mode it would be pretty hard to know when a bracketed set is done or if you are starting another set. I think that is why you have to hold the bracketed button. I could be wrong so I will check for sure tonight (4 hours from now). Unless someone else wants to comment that knows. I've been wrong before.

Ok I got mud on my face... tcadwall is right, in continuous high speed mode you do not have to hold the bracket button. Not sure where I got that idea. In manual or auto bracket modes in continuous high speed shutter from 3 to 9 frames if you hold the shutter button down it will shoot the whole series and stop until you release the shutter button and depress it again.
I guess that in need to hook up with tcadwall for D200 lessons. :D
Am I out of the clique? or just on probation?
Thanks!

No mud. Look at it this way, now your bracketed shots will be even easier for you! And, it means that the ML-3 might be the exact answer you need. Heck that remote is WAY better than the ML-L3 (of course, at 10 x's the price of the ML-L3). It is back-ordered at both Adorama, and BH.
It does allow you to set it up as a trigger beam... IOW for unattended wildlife photos, or catching a trespasser, etc. That is pretty cool.
Im getting one!! Thanks for the link tcadwall, I had never seen that one before!

I checked out the WT-3 during my recent trip to LA, but it was nothing compared to the 39 Megapixal Hasselblad I used to take a few photos. ;) There is also a large price difference between the MC-30 and MC-36. There is also a remote that is not made by Nikon, but it is only $100. Sorry, I can't remember the brand and was tempted to purchase one after one of my friends hooked it up to his Canon though I spaced it out when I picked up the Nikkor 1.7x teleconverter prior to leaving LA today.
