The camera shop that I visit insists that for sharpness, detail, and over-all quality the Nikon 8700 is by far the best bang for your buck. I was leaning toward the Konica-Minolta A200 but they still persist on selling the Nikon.
My question is are they correct or is it just because they get a better kickback form Nikon? Also what would be the best cards for these cameras (KM and Nikon) Does one card perform better than the other (Sandisk, Lexar etc)???
This has nothing to do with price.
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

That is a quandry. For a few dollars more the 8800 is probably a better value having an image stabilized lens. Either camera will serve you well.

I doubt that there is a kickback, but maybe there is a better commission incentive. The store person may just have limited experience and truely believes that the Nikon is better (and maybe it is).

If you are looking for a big zoom in a moderately small package then you might also want to include the Panasonic FZ20.

I'm not a big fan of the newer consumer 8 MegaPixel cameras, but they are compact and as long as you don't expect great, high ISO pictures, they seem work well.

Bon Foto.
