I seem to find that although the camera display looks OK when taking flash, both with the on-board and 430 EX, in P mode, the subsequent download into ZoomBrowser produces a very dark picture.
Could it be that the Kood 1b filter I use on the 17-85, f4-5.6 IS lens has an influence?

When you look at the histogram in the camera, are the peaks at the far left end, or in the center? If they are in the center, your computer display needs to be adjusted. If they are on the far left end, you probably have the brightness on your camera display cranked up.

Here is the picture I have used in the past to set my monitor brightness and contrast. All you have to do is set the monitor so you can see all the different boxes from white to black.

Thanks guys, I'll try the chart from mcenut. Does anyone have a view on the influence of a Kood 1b filter on the eventual take of a picture? If the Kood is not suitable, what is recommended for a skylight type filter?
