I want to purchase a spare battery for my new D70s, I think a genuine Nikon rather than a cheaper copy. Will a EN-EL3e work instead of the EN-EL3a

I do believe so. I asked the same question at the camera shop and the guy said that the E would work in a D70s.

If you check out this chart, according to Thom, you can use that battery.

I use a Promaster as well as the original Nikon, and I can't tell a difference. Been going back and forth between the two for over 9k images. For half the cost, it was well worth it for me.
