View Full Version : 3rd wedding - Showit Slideshow
Slide-show here.(removed)
From Sat Mar. 3. It went great!
We're suffering through 3100 shots, but pulled these out for a quick slide-show to keep the Bride's excitement alive while we do the edits.
We decided on providing an immediate slide-show, then getting the main story up within 2 weeks (probably 300 shots), then have a second galley posting with the rest of it within 4 or 5 weeks.
(Note: Includes some photos from 2nd shooter)
Has a nice feel to it & I think the moment is there.
looks like it came straight from a movie. very nice work!

You got some good ones in there that I'm sure the happy couple will love.
Nice work. If I may offer one thought, and I am sure this is probably a personal preferance as others may disagree. I think the slideshow is a bit fast. I see what you were tryin to do with the music/photo speed, but some photos you didnt get a chance to really see. Again, its probably a preference thing but just offering my thoughts.
It does look well photographed, though.
My favorite was the first dance with the champagne glasses in the foreground.

Beautiful slide show but I felt that it was too fast. I didn't even get to focus on some of the pics especially around where the rings were being shown.
But great job overall

Thanks all.
More work? Thanks for asking Rich:
I'm doing mostly colaborative work with another photographer. Makes it hard to separate the work or take credit - although of the 33 shots here 18 were mine. Of 3100 for this event, it could have been all mine or hers, but she was gracious in making this one and included more of mine. I like sharing with my warm little group here whom have helped me along with encouragement but can't take the extra time always to make a separate version just of my stuff.
So happens the wine glass one was mine. Thank you JCON! I wouldn't want to be in a competition with Steph (I'd loose) but I can see these events are improving my photography some. I'm not up to say CDI or Andy's level yet, certainly not CW, Peter, or Jamie (will it ever even?), but it's better than "Vich 2 months ago", LOL.
Here's a couple of galleries of only my stuff from a recent shoot:

Oh; and we only "Pre-Edit" so much. We'll do more editing if they're ordered. This couple is ordering about 30 of the 300 or so shots posted.
Fast pace: She used a template that was fast paced and we're too pressed for time to mess too much.
I agreed too about "too fast" but she pointed out that it forces people to repeat (and that's good), and the fast pace totally matches the B&G so it works. Thinking about it, I agree. It is lacking several key parts (cake cutting, some great "girls" shots from the dance floor (they booked it for 2 hours straight), dance with dad, ... but getting it done now was more important than done perfectly - and it certainly works.
One key point brought up in another (paid WP only) forum is that we are part of their emotional experience, and part of our job is helping that experience. Showing some WOW results like this, in a sharable form, is a big asset that, we hope, will be remembered well.
All the photos from that slideshow will be in their own gallery (as copies) for easy access and for purchase by Sunday.
Cheers, Thanks for looking and for the acolades!

Thanks. You can pull down the controls and use "Pause" too. We'll probably do a slower version in a few days in any case. They do fly right by on some.

Vich, I know this just a temp slide slow, but the speed for me is too fast. Probably will remind the couple just how quickly the day went by. I think these types of slide shows are best played slowly so the couple really has time to take in all the details each image has captured.

Hey Andy: Thanks for the feedback, I really value your opinion.
As I mentioned above, my work lately has been colaborative and although most of the photography is mine, my co-shooter actually created this slideshow. We've both been so pressed for time, she just used a template. My first reaction was the same, although she pointed out that they're the fast paced type and we figured "aahe, it'll do, but yeah, next time slower transitions".
It did solicit this reaction from the bride:
WOW! Really cool! I like that a lot! I still can't get over what a great job you two did!! Just seeing these photos gets me really excited to see the rest - these look so good! Very artistic shots on some of them - I like that a lot!
