Hi...after reading the review on this site for the SD200 I decided finally to go purchase it today.

The salesman also told me I needed additional memory and he recommended another 256MB which I also purchased.

Now here is my question.....In the review on this site it says:

"Canon includes a 16MB Secure Digital (SD) card with the camera. That holds just eight photos at the highest quality setting, so I'd advise that you buy a larger memory card right away. I'd say 128MB is a good starting size. The camera can use SD or MMC cards, though I'd advise against the latter. The camera takes advantage of high speed SD cards, and one is recommended if you plan on using the VGA movie mode."

Now, the one I purchased is a generic 256MB card.....I don't know if that means it's "SD" or "MMC". Is this the right card?

Sorry if this question is a little basic, but I'm quite a newbie in this arena.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

The package should say whether it is an SD or a MMC card. They will both work, but the SD is usually faster. As a matter of fact, I'm not aware of anyone still making MMC cards. If that is what you bought, it could have been one that is left over from when they were more pouplar. The easiest way to tell the difference is that SD cards have a sliding tab on the side (the side opposite the "sawed off" corner) which is used as a write protect tab, similar to that on a floppy disk. If your card has that tab, then it is probably an SD card.

My card does in fact have the sliding tab, so it's an SD. So I should be in good shape.

Thanks for the help!
