I posted my general requirements for a camera yesterday. I've since visited a camera store, and think either the Canon G6 or Sony DSC-V3 might be the way to go. Other than the aperture issue noted in the review of the DSC-V3, are there other factors favoring one over the other? Also, the salesman was trying to steer me toward the DSC-V1 on sale for $300; the best price for the G6 is $540. Are the G6/V3 worth an addititional $200+ compared to the DSC-V1, in terms of picture quality, lag times, build quality, resolution for 8x10s? Am I missing comparably priced, comparably sized cameras?

I went to a Wolf Camera in Dallas. They're clearing out V1s at $299.

:) The V-1 is an excellent camera. I just bought one on Sears.com for $300. It has been discontinued, as it is no longer on Sonys website. The V-1 received an excellent review on dpreview.com and steves-digicams. The only advantage of buying a G6 is if you're going to blow up pictures larger than 8X10, in my opinion. The nice thing about the V-1 is that it is small and can easily fit in a coat pocket. However, the G6 is an awesome camera, just download some pics from steves-digicams and see for yourself. About a year ago, the V-1 was selling for approx. $500. One additional advantage from buying at Sears is that if you are unhappy with the camera, they will refund your money.
