View Full Version : Lunar eclipse tonight?

Any one planning to try andtake pictures? Any ideas how to set the camera? I have the fuji s6000FD
just did a little more looking and it is actually March 3rd! So at least that gives me some time to review my camera and look for some information!

It's been snowing for 2 days now, not sure if I'm going to get a chance at this one.

I'm on the east coast of Canada and would also like to shot it but they say we might miss it over here.

Total bust here! I waiting with tripod and camera all set! The only exciting thing the clouds did turn a just wee bit red but nothing camera ready Oh well.
Hopefully in August I can try again!

I managed to take some here in England but I wasn't really sure of what settings to use and the focus was a bit hit and miss. you can see some of the better ones here : http://www.flickr.com/gp/23577984@N00/i344q8

Some of those turned out pretty good. It's a tough shot that's for sure but it looks like you had a pretty good view.

Thanks, I'd never even tried taking photos of the moon before so it was all hit and miss. I did use spot metering and auto bracketing which did seem to help a bit. :)

Lucky you! Those are really neat pictures! Thanks for sharing! There is another lunar eclipse in August...so hopefully those pesky clouds won't be around this time!

Looks like you stayed up a lot longer than I did. It's nice to see what I missed. Once it was covered in shadow I thought it was all over. Cat & I also had a go you can see our efforts in the lunar eclipse thread in the photo gallery. Yes Spot metering & auto bracket was heavilliy used by me too. I also used the self timer to reduce camera shake & actually nudged the legs of my tripod a bit to centre the image when necessary rather than actually move the tripod controls. It was easier that way but perhaps that is because my tripod has seen better days!
