alright i'm not gonna do the guessing game because if you've read any of my posts i'm sure you all know what it is before even looking at the pictures. i finally saved up the 1600 to get the 70-200 f/2.8 IS USM. it arrived last night. this is the best i could do to put together some test pictures.

also, i'm not a fan of 100% crops so i'm posting no crop resized to 700 pixels wide. imo no crop gives you a better idea of how sharp a lens is because that's how we're used to seeing them anyway.

all taken at ISO 1600, curve adjustments with lightroom, no sharpening or noise reduction.

weirdest thing. i coulda swore i was at 200mm on these, but exif shows 165mm. i musta bumped it back when i didn't know it..although the zoom ring is very stiff..oh well. but even at 165mm i was very impressed.

and so y'all know, this is straight handheld, i didn't rest my elbows on anything except for tucking them in. 1/15s not bad at 165mm...i wouldn't condone using it, personally i'd try and stay above 1/60s on non moving objects anyway just to be safe. but it's nice to know you can if you have to.

That's why it's so ideal for weddings. People don't move much during ceremonies so the slow SS can still get a shot. But the photog ain't necessarily all that steady. :)

You're darn tootin' it gained weight .... 3.3 lbs!

Couple that with a 15 oz EOS 30D and the 15 oz BG-E2 ... and you are shooting five full pounds of photographic firepower the likes of which ...

NEED TO BE SEEN! LOL :D

Way to shop! Enjoy this "bad boy", I know I do.

Don't need no 85mm-prime! ;) ... as long as you are 4.3 feet back.
