So what batteries do you guys run in your grips

AA's or Canon style packs

Wondering how a set of 2500mha would go compared to the Canon batteries

I just run a single Canon pack in mine.

I only keep a single battery in my 30D's BG-E2 grip at a time with a spare charged battery in the bag.

My spare is also a Canon. When I was buying originally it was just one less thing to think about. Going forward I'd probably save and go 3rd party.

Two reasons:

-With both batteries installed the camera uses them equally until they are both drained. With one installed I know it is time to charge it when I pop in the other battery.

- Extra weight. But the main reason was the first I gave.
