Jeff your reviews are GREAT for the red eye comparison. I also love being able to search by battery type (AA) and LCD size (the bigger the better!)
Redeye is a big problem for me in capturing my daughters. I can touch them up with the software... but it seems I lose the eye color as well. I tried to do a search for some of the terms you used "no redeye" "good redeye performance"... but nothing came up.
Am I missing a trick?
Could someone offer a suggestion for smallish (not ultra compact), AA battery, 1.8LCD or bigger, with fast start and fast shot to shot, 4+/-MP would be nice for my cropping desires, and NO or LOW redeye?
My main needs are for family pictures (mostly indoor) and vacations.
I had narrowed my paper list to Canon A95, and Sony DSC-W1... but they don't do well on your redeye evaluation. Eliminated Olympus C-5050Z because it was too expensive. I've tried to look at cheaper Olympus cameras... but it gets overwhelming. On this site I found the HP850... looks like much lower in price... has 8x zoom... good redeye performance... but bigger camera... and does it not have a viewfinder? I know outside I have had problems seeing the LCD screen and need the viewfinder.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
I know I want it all... sorry!
