Yep...a Canon 70-200 f/2.8L... it's ordered. Just placed the order with b&h about 10 minutes ago. I feel very excited yet sick at the same time. lol. I need some people to tell me i did the right thing so i can stop breathing into this brown paper bag. The way i justify it is that no self respecting wedding photographer would be caught dead without it... and that's what i'm going to be doing starting this spring (already got a few booked.) Wish me luck.

Twice as much. He most likely needed: Superb AF speed, Superb AF accuracy, L image quality, L build quality, and probably the need for a constant F2.8 Tele Zoom. Congrats Bonji.

I was feelin pretty good up until now. :p lol. I didn't go with the 70-300 because i need top drawer quality and the constant f/2.8 along with IS. I pondered and pondered over saving the extra cash and ordering the non IS version of this lens but then i decided what the hell, i'm only going to buy it once... might as well go top drawer and get the extra versatility. I'm going to start putting this lens to very good use come april (shooting weddings.)

i'll wish you luck...not on the lens because i know it will kick ass, but good luck on getting it this week. knowing b&h, they'll ship your lens out sometime two days from now. i don't know about everyone else, but for some reason no matter what i buy from them they will wait two days before they ship it. not that they're bad, the prices are usually the best, but they're just slow. i think newegg spoiled me.

I've had an order or 2 delayed but usually it's the same or next business day for me, depending how early or late in the day I hit the go go gadget geekdom button.

I've always had the opposite experience with them. It says on their site if you order an express shipping (2 day or faster) before 2pm they try to ship same day. I've always paid the extra 11 bucks for 2day and they've always sent it out the same day. I expect it to ship this afternoon since i placed the order last night. Maybe ground takes a different priority. I'll let you know.

I always do ground. I opted for FedEx 2 day once and it took longer than UPS Ground...and even FedEx's own Ground service is faster than their 2 Day from that area to me. Go figure.

weird. i ordered something from them this past friday at exactly 10:44 am central time, 11:44am pacific, ups got it yesterday. and this isn't the first time either...always ups ground for me. maybe it's a friday thing. i'll have to check my other orders to see, but this seems to always happen to me. i did notice though that later on that day it had that "we are not accepting orders until xx/xx/xxxx" thing they frequently have. and what's that about anyway?

It's a company run by orthodox jews, they're observing the sabath. Sundown friday night to sundown saturday night i believe. They're also closed on the traditional jewish holidays as well.

If you order on a Friday and they're busy and don't get to it that day, it won't be packaged till Sunday night when they start processing again, and it won't get in UPS' hands until Monday night. They close early Friday and Saturday for their Jewish Sabbath. There's a schedule on their website somewhere.

Bookkeeping ... but, on a Friday? Kind of strange stuff ... it's NY, though ... may be a religious thing.

I've never had a problem either. My last two orders I believe were both shipped same day. And UPS Ground to D.C. takes about two days (excluding the ship date), so I don't need to pay extra to get it on the second business day. I'll be placing another order today or tomorrow for my bag(s).

You know, I was thinkin' ... (yeah, it happens occasionally), that even the threat of us (the forum members) jerkin' someone around really might not be good thing. One of the special aspects to this forum is that people can engage in lively debate, and whether or not it is right or wrong ... it's honest.
Trustworthiness is one of the hardest things to acheive and the easiest to lose. So ... be careful.
All the best, to one and all ... now go and

mine get tiring. i have dreams of whatever my newest thing is. lately i keep setting up lights over and over and over and over doing the same exact shot, but somehow i'm shooting faster than sync and no matter what i do, i won't change the settings. weird.
every new job i've ever gotten(blue bell for instance), i had dreams of loading trucks and throwing the packages to the driver over and over and over. a never ending order.
now that i'm in IT, i have problems i just can't fix sometimes in my dreams.
when i delivered pizzas at one point, i'd get lost and never make it back to the store.
ok so maybe i rambled a little.

Remember, that minimum focal distance is 4.3 feet (~1.3 meters). Also, on the side of that beastie, there is a switch for quicker focusing, when you are further away. Make sure it's using the range you want or it will drive you nuts not being able to acheive a closer focus. :D

And, for me, wildlife at dusk and dawn. I had a devil of a time in Yellowstone handholding my S3 IS at full telephoto near dusk shooting photos of moose, black bear, elk, etc. That said, I was a complete novice then, and was probably shooting at ISO 100 because I didn't know any better.

i usually shoot at dusk too but i almost always got the tripod with me for that kind of stuff so camera shake with that lens + tc doesn't bother me much.
