Whoah man... Fuji pushes forth with the S5700. Looks like a beauty, and I'm sure the innards work fine after its predecessor, the S5600, kicked some serious ass.
Check it out:

Looks definitely better. More compact. I can't wait to get one....

While certain an upgrade to the s5600, if you consider the s6000fd can be found for less than $300 now it might not be worth it...
Take a look at http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital/lineup/performance.html#sss and you'll see what I mean. With the exception of (finally) using SD/SDHC cards, it is inferior in almost every aspect. I don't consider a 7.1MP against 6.3MP on the s6000fd an advantage these days.
I do like the design better as you said, though.

True. The increase in Mega Pixels doesn't mean much.
From what I see, the cons are:
1. No more RAW format images.
2. Increase in megapixels unnecessary and redundant for most users, and may result in a silly increase in price. Even the S6000 has only 6.1, which is more than enough. I think Fuji wants to utilize the MPxls sell scheme that other manufacturers are doing.
Pros:
1. Uses the 6th gen sensor over 5th. Should mean a slight improvement to image quality.
2. Supports both xD and sD cards.
3. 2.5" LCD screen @ higher resolution over the S5600's 1.8" screen.
4. More compact design.
I also think there are some menu improvements over the S5600. its been hinted here and there. But I think I'll wait for a pro review.
I prefer the S5600/S5700 to the S6000 because the S5xxx cams are about half the size and weigh much less. Not thrilled on lugging the 500g S6000 all over, though its a much better camera of course. :-D
