I'm looking for my first digital camera. I own a very good Nikon optical SLR/lenses and a Nikon 35ti point and shoot, and have used both cheap compact digitals and expensive digitals SLRs. I've read many reviews, but can't decide what to buy. I will spend up to $500 street, and want high resolution (at least 6m?), a good LCD, some zoom, compact size (important), minimal start up and lag time between depressing shutter and taking a picture (the most annoying thing I've found using digitals), aperture control, sturdy construction (important), fair memory and battery. For those who know opticals, the 35ti, though pricey and fixed lens, is somewhat of a model as to the type of camera I'd like.
I like the Nikon D70, but am looking for a compact model and uderstand that the Coolpix are perhaps not as good all around as some competitors.
Any input, please?
