OK. Face detection was touted as being a breakthrough, now that we all had a play with it...
Do you find face detection useful?
Do you normally leave this feature on or off?
Has it really made the difference in any of your shots?
My personal opinion is that it is an interesting feature, can't say that it has really "made the difference" in any of my people shots though.
I have now started to keep this feature off most of the time after an experience at a crowded zoo where I was trying to snap a bird in flight and the face detection was focusing on the man on the other side. Got great shots of man, blurry shots of bird!
Be interested in your thoughts.

Don't have a camera with the Face Detection feature (yet). But I think it wouldn't be of much use to me if I'm the one operating the camera, since I'm used to the half-press method of focusing. However, I think it would be useful if I handed the camera to someone else to take a picture of me. I can't tell you how many times I've done that, only to have the picture not turn out because the person didn't know how to focus on me instead of the background! That's why I usually use a tripod if I want a picture with me in it; I seldom trust anyone else to get it right.

It's normally off unless I'm shooting in a mode that can enable it. I find it mildly useful.

It's a feature I can live without. I have the habit of focusing and recompose and can't stand it when the camera fights me for this control.
Many times, I use my friend's S6000fd and guess which button I reach for when I have his camera in my hands? It's FD off.

I like it. I have some fast moving kids and so far it seems to be able to keep up.

I too love it and it is most useful for taking snaps of kids-party-Indoors.I keep it on when I use my cam for taking indoor snaps.Good facility I must say.:)

OFF, and I hardly ever think about it. Maybe next time when shooting some sort of group pictures I'll give it a thought. :)

It also claims to adjust the exposure and, perhaps most usefully, the flash strength. Tho I haven't tested it out much on my F31 yet, I remember lots of pics from the past with washed out faces or parts of faces due to an overly strong flash.

when someone else needs to use my camera, i turn the facedetection on, otherwise only when there is a difficult light, the focus afterwards is neat though, and has been nice quite a few times - though it would be really useful if the camera automatically took the picture when it had a face locked in!
