What do you do if you need to get a quick shot, ie no time for autofocus?
1 example is trying to catch a dolphin in a jump and you don't have time for auto-focus to lock on.
I think there is no manual focus on the F31 and unlike another cam I've used, it doesn't take the shot if you just press the shutter all the way. It'll still try to do the autofocus... or whatever it's doing that takes as long as autofocus.
Is there a way around this?

Just half press the shutter halfway to focus on the water where the animal is likely to pop up and hold it there. When it jumps - CLICK.

Yea, I guess. I'm kinda disappointed with that because it claimed to have a M mode and my old 4MP camera that croaked had manual focus. Just didn't expect newer models to have fewer features, I guess.

focusing on the water as last poster said, and then being ready with a 3series shot would do the trick, if you can estimate when its going to jump you can even use the last 3 and begin taking pictures before it comes up from the water, you got 20 seconds which should be adequate

Thx for the suggestions.
I just wished there was manual focus, which would also be useful for certain timer shots. The F31 does have a FD feature that will focus at the moment of the shot instead of when you press the shutter, so that's pretty neat.
