Do you regularly read any photography magazines? Which do you like and why?

I read Outdoor Photographer. Why? Because, well, it's about outdoor phoptography. Good mag, lots of interesting stories and great tips too.

I read Shutterbug, Pop Photo and a few others.
I do read the forums more. I think the user info is more usefull then whats written in a magazine.

I get Outdoor Photographer because I mostly like shooting landscapes and wildlife. It will give you great travel ideas. The two best magazines in my opinion are Practical Photography and Photography Monthly. They're both published in the UK, so either one will cost around $100 for 12 issues, but they're well worth it. Tip: Buy from the newsstand. I believe my subscription to Practical Photography costs me more than what I could give it for at Borders. Most U.S. magazines I find a bit lame (Popular Photography, Shutterbug, etc.).

Like SunGrazer notes, most US magazines are a bit lame. That is the case from what I have seen in computer magazines, car magazines and photography magazines. Shallow articles, some questionable reviewing, and more based on advertising revenue than anything else.
UK magazines (also again in car magazines, cumputer magazines and photography magazines, audio magazins) seem to be more about passion and the art of things.
German magazines in my opinion are the most thorough and technical. Their car magazines are filled with the most objective, dry and technical reviews (for instance the excellent "auto motor und sport"). Their computer magazines are most informative, technical and varied (for instance CT' magazin, Mac Welt, MacUp).
And in photomagazins I really liked the now defunct ComputerFoto and my current favorite magazin ColorFoto. ColorFoto has a lot of to the point, technical savvy reviews of cameras and lenses. They have some informative articles about techniques and software (not as much as UK magazins).
Dutch magazins almost always have an amateuristic provincial suck-ness to them, mixed with the advertisement revue focus you see with american mags, so they do not attract.

I've found Rangefinder and Digital Photo Pro to be MUCH better than many of the others. I'd gladly pay for Rangefinder but am happy that it is free. Digital Photo Pro has a nice blend of great photography, well written articles, advertisiting, and new product news. It's not pure advertising many many others. I also enjoy reading Outdoor Photographer but it isn't in the same category as the two above.

I read Popular Photography (have a subscription) and I usually pick Shutterbug up at the news stands. I usually look through the others to see if they have anything interesting and buy them if they do.

Even though I live in Canada, my the only two that I buy on a regular basis are:
Photography Monthly (UK)
Practical Photography (UK)
I like them as they focus on photographers, pictures, and skills. Instead of camera buyers guides...

I subscribe to Digital SLR photography and occasionally read Photography montly. Both published in the UK.
I like Digital SLR photography because its a nice mix of everything. News, guides, reviews, stories and pictures from both readers and pro's.
