If you are tired of all the brow-beating and high-level rhetoric of this forum, take a peek at Hobby Photography (http://hobbyphoto.proboards84.com/). All cameras are welcome and the smaller forum is run by people simply interested in getting the most from what they have w/o the ego.

In other words ... "Let's see what you got!" :D

I hear what you are saying Don. There have been several instances for me in the past where people have come across as being quite arrogant although I'm sure if you fronted them about it they would use the excuse of correction or the stop of disinformation. In reality the printed word can come across as being a Lot harsher than intended & true meanings can be lost in interpretation. I honestly don't agree with all of your posts sometimes but for the better part of valour I refrain from answering.
Every forum that I've been involved with has it's ups & downs, on the whole I quite appreciate this one.

Most of my posts are done with a modicum of humbleness and comedic intent.

I guess you can get all serious and everything, if you want, but nine times out of ten, the intent is to stir up conversation and an exchange of veiwpoint.

If I wanted pure and published factual information, I would seek out books and published web pages on manufacturing websites. Not that I don't, but I do not do it exclusively. I enjoy sharing what I find out and some of the crazy experiences I have using this equipment.

Not everything is perfect, but not many things in life are. I, by no means, feel that I have the bottom line on any issue. The best I can hope is to simply ask for someone else's veiwpoint and get a handle on the issue. Wrestle it around a little, have a couple of yucks and move on to new territory.

I certainly do not have "the secret of Nimh (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Secret_of_NIMH)", but just participate as part of the hoorah that people have to tolerate because we are all different. Some, admittedly, more than others.

Recently, I took my camera out into the winter cold, with the 17-50mm f/2.8 on it, to see how it would perform. Everything was going fine until around 20-degrees F. So, I poppped that little tidbit on the long-going "TAMRON SP AF17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di-II LD" thread and low and behold, I was promptly chastized for resurrecting what has been one of the funniest, informative and most entertaining threads written on the forum.

Does that really make sense? A thread, especially one that you originated, has a purpose. Perhaps it will enlighten people as to the problems digital cameras have in the cold. Perhaps it'll tickle them to go back and read this stockpile of heavy-duty information, which I personally do not want to have to re-write everytime issue arises. Perhaps, "... then peace will guide the planets and love will steer the stars ..."

Acch, I digress...

Spreading misleading information and having fun are (or at least should be) two completely different things. (Just a general statement, not saying your experience in the cold was misleading.)

You could have named the thread 'How far are we going to push etiquette v how far & where can I push your etiquette. :D :D :D
P.S. Don these comments aren't aimed at you or anyone in particular, just generalisations to be precise.;)

Well this certainly is entertaining...

It is difficult not to be at least a little arrogant when you are speaking about subjects you know well. I love reading and commenting on forums where my opinion is listened to, if only so that it may be disproved. I learn something new, and perhaps it will help someone else. This forum, for all its quibbles, is very much appreciable.

Just my brief detailed opinion  :p

This was a suggestion to the populus for an alternative approach to photo sharing and conversation.

Hobby Photography (http://hobbyphoto.proboards84.com/) is a small board with people who enjoy a little slower and easier pace to their ... craft.

It wasn't suppose to be an indictment of this one.

Heck, why not do both? :D
