I have pretty much narrowed down my choice to 2 Olympus cameras-the C-770 Ultra Zoom or the C-5060 Wide Zoom. They both look like great cameras and to have the movie mode is something that my old digital got me accustomed to. Which is the best choice? Thanks for all your input.

RobinThe two cameras are complementary to each other, actually, don't seem to be meant for the same purpose. The 5060 will give you a great wide angle down to 27 mm, but will only zoom up to 110 mm (equivalent). On the other hand, the 770 will zoom you out to 380 mm telephoto reach. The choice depends on you, I'd think; what type of photos ring your bell? If you're into a lot of architecture type shots, expansive landscapes, etc., the 5060 would work. On the other hand, if you like wildlife photography, birds, deer, dogs, sports, etc., the 770 would probably work better. As the song says, "It all depends on you..." :o
Both would be good choices, but different types of cameras. With different zooms and 4MP vs 5MP. I'd say the 5060 is more of a 5MP wide angle prosumer and the 770 a 4MP ultra-zoom consumer.
As what John Reed said, it pretty much depends on what you take.
You can also look at conversion lenses to increase/decrease the zoom range. For instance, a wide-angle convertor will drop the 770 wide angle to 28mm from 38mm.

The 5060 is a great camera, easy to learn and use as all the features you regaularly use are accessible via button so you dont have to go to the menus in the viewfinder. The 5060 comes into its own for underwater shots. The wide zoom is great beacause it allow you to get close to a large subject. The less water between you and subject the better. Above ground - the camera is excellent. cant fault it for the price.

If you like what the C-5060 offers then you might want to consider holding fire and getting the new c-7070 which carries the very good 7.1MP CCD
