Hi, It seems to me my s400 takes better pics than my friends sd300 is it the way we use them, or is it the cameras? My s400 seems easier to use but that is what I started on. Thanks, Lizardtrack

I assume the word "Canon" is implied somewhere there. :)

They're pretty comparable in specs, but the S400 has a bigger sensor, which may account for some of the difference. The operator can certainly have something to do with it. Post some samples for final judgment. :)

I have some experience with both of the cameras you mentioned. Both my sons had Canon S400s and I have used them. I had an SD300 for a while until my wife expressed an interest in it.

While I much preferred the SD300 (smaller, lighter, larger LCD and much quicker powering up and less shutter lag), I am not aware of any significant difference in image quality.

I've had great success with my SD300, so I don't think it's the camera. It's not great in low light situations, but I don't think the S400 is any better. I never use my SD300 in Auto mode, I always shoot in P and set the ISO by hand.
