What's the best digital camera to buy for around $150? I'm looking for clear pictures, ability to capture a moving target (ie kids running around, running water), fast shutter speed, easy download to the computer, option of battery or rechargable.

Guess my question wasn't important enough to warrant any responses . Not a problem....I've decided on the Olympus D-580.

Yr right: Seems most people on this site like the high-end cameras. I was looking for something in exactly the same budget as you. My criteria was: Best lens and CCD for the buck, lowest MP possible (2MP is enough for excellent 4x5 prints!) and cheap memory and power supply (AA batteries...). I bought the Canon A400 last night (for the outlaws) while I have a 11 month old A60 for my own use. And it really does take great pics!!!

Happy shooting!

Sorry, but I didn't even see this post until today. Unfortunate that you didn't get a quicker response. Normally someone will answer within a day. We all have day jobs as well as being members of this board, and occasionally there is a gap where people are traveling or just can't get to the DCRP.

For a few dollars more you might want to consider the Canon A75, but if the D-580 meets your needs then that will work as well. We always suggest the try before you buy method, and this case is no exception.
