I have been considering getting one of these cameras as it seems to always be near the top in any comparasion chart, however can anybody that has one of these tell me if the sometimes reported problem of it taking 6-7 seconds to recharge the flash before another shot can be taken, or the long time to store a picture are true?. I can't believe that 7 seconds is the norm for the flash?, and I realy want a camera that I can take full res pictures and have it ready to shoot the next in less that 1 second?.
Thanks

It is slow, most of the 2 AA cameras are though. Somthing has to give when you start making these cameras smaller and smaller. Either we want more mega pixels, more zoom, faster refreshrates or larger screens AND we want them to fit in our pocket too. With the A700 you sacrafice speed for all the other features. I guess most dont really think of a speedy camera when they think of this series. They are more concerned about the zoom, size and the screen i guess.

Yes flash recharge can easily run over 5 secs if fired fully. Close-ups, which don't fire fully, can be somewhat less time. Flash recycle is different, however, from shot to shot times. The 710 can shoot 1.7 shots per sec in burst mode. So I'd say it should easily keep up with a shot a sec in single shot mode (non-flash).

It takes 5 seconds for flash recycle the few times I have used flash.
You would be better off with the A6XX series with their 4 batteries if you want faster flash.
