With the Canon A85 or A95 is it possible to plug the camera into your PC so you can monitor what the camera is seeing. While taking pictures with the camera..

I’m imagining running the Video S out from the camera into my capture card (TV Wonder/WinXP). But only to monitor what the camera is seeing. I would be taking still pictures with the camera (not recording movies). I assume the pictures would be stored on the MemoryStick which I could upload later as if I was taking pictures normally.

A little background if your interested
My purpose is to take pictures for stop-motion animation. Monitoring the camera on the computer would help in all kinds of ways; I could mark on the screen to track the movement of figures, more people could work on the set and know what the camera is seeing. Normally people use DV cameras but I’m on a budget. My old digital camera broke so I need a new one anyhow and I can’t see my self recording enough live action to justify buying a DV camera. And sequencing Digital stills looks so much crisper that taking frames from my capture card, which is old and only captures 320x280

Thanks in advance

Angela

Yes you can do that, there is even a software that comes with the camera that does it.
