I'd appreciate any input anyone might have on this problem I'm having with my now 2+ yr. old PowerShot A75. I've had absolutely no problems with it -- quite thrilled w/ it actually -- until this morning when I went to turn it on, and the viewfinder no longer displays what the camera is pointing at.

What it shows is just a black screen w/ fluttering colours, mostly pink like a large horizontal band left to right. Band isn't static; it's constantly moving, and when I go to take a picture (thinking perhaps maybe it can still read images & send to card w/out viewfinder), what I get is exactly what is now showing on the viewfinder.

I've tried re-formatting the card, no luck. Images on card I could see in playback mode. Tried another CF card, no difference. Batteries also fine.

Anyone heard of this before? Too expensive to fix??? Any help would be sincerely apprecreciated!

That sounds like the canon recall. If you go to the canonUSA website they have a notice about a recall on the CCD that they have found to be defective. If you contact them they send you a page you print a prepaid label and you send it to them. They repair it and send it back free of charge. Ive had a few things fixed by canon and they are great about it.

Wow! That's amazing news. Thanks so much. Hopefully that's what it is, and I can get it back quickly! Don't want to drop another 3,4 hundred $$ on a new cam.
