Just received my Fuji S6000 today after waiting patiently for the UPS man. I'm very impressed with it so far. But, I have noticed one thing and was curious as to if this was normal. There is an audible mechanical noise when focusing that is amplified when shooting video. I expected there to be some noise. Maybe it's more noticeable at the moment because the camera is still cold after being in that UPS truck all day?

It's normal for the camera to make noise. Mine will click and whirl a bit as I move it about, I believe it's the metering updating itself but I don't know that for a fact. The movie mode issue is because of the location of the microphone, it tends to pick up on that noise above others because it's so close.

I figured this was the case. Just wanted to make sure. Thanks!

yeah you can turn off the button beeps and the shutter noise as there just sound effects.... (the camera actually doesn't have a shutter, It just changes the exposure length on the ccd electronically. this is also the reason the camera will take video... Any DSLR with a shutter cannot take video as it would mean the shutter been open all the time. It's also one of the reasons the s6x00 doens have an optical view finder.)

as for the mechanical noise when the camera focuses... Mine does it. Then once it hits focus it gives a little beep to tell me everythings in focus. When it doesn't beep you need to refocus.
