I am going to Europe for 1 month, and will be taking lots of pictures. Though, I really dont have the money to purchase the Epson P-3000 Photo Viewer, which was suggested to me to get because it would help me look at the photos I took and store them at night. Sounds like a nice idea, but I just really cant afford it. Someone also said take a laptop...ya that's definitely not gonna happen...I'm backpacking europe, there's absolutely no room to bring a laptop when backpacking europe.

I figured just bring LOTS of memory, lots of 1gb, or 4gb SD cards. And at ever place I go to, take many pictures of each object to assure that you've gotten at least 1 good picture. Does this sound sensible to anyone?

And incase it helps, I'll be using the Nikon D40 camera.

I took a 1gig card and burnt to cd at photolabs when full, some say I did the wrong thing. Worked for me though, backed up to 2 DVDs when I got back home

I still think you're going to regret not having the laptop. Although I certainly understand why you don't want to take one.

Reviewing your pictures is a key step in getting better at photography. And something may look good on the camera's screen but be disappointing when viewed larger, and you might miss your chance to go back and reshoot.

The photoviewer might be good for a back up, at least -- it'd suck if your memory cards gets damaged halfway through your trip. That said, the Epson photoviewer's screen is only a little bit bigger than the display on the D40, and not that much higher resolution. I don't think you'll see much on the photoviewer that you wouldn't on the camera itself. (Someone jabbed at me when I listed the D40's relatively large and high-resolution LCD as an advantage -- this is certainly a case where it is.)

At least make sure you take lots of small cards rather than one big one. You may even want to consider mailing them home as they fill up.
