How can i get photshop's filters to work on .TIFF files?

:confused: I'm working on .tiff file but when i go to edit them on photoshop using filters, they don't seem to be active for .tiff files only for jpg and psd files. Any one has any coments on how i can work around this without loosing that much quality?

Just a guess but are you working with a 16 bit image? If so go to Image-->Mode and select 8 bit instead of 16 bit. Hope this helps, it is all I can think of, but yet I do not use tif files.

Some filters only work on RGB colour space, if your TIFF files are in CMYK you will need to change it to RGB. Some colours will change quite a bit with the change, though.
