I been hearing a lot of good things about fujifilm f30 so I am considering buying it, but I would still like to know if there is any camera that is similar to fujifilm f30, something that is manual, compact, take great photo under low light and would be great if it has more powerful zoom, I will consider it even if it is a bit bigger. Thanks!!

:D

The Fuji F20/30/31/40 are in a class by themselves when it comes to compact P&S in low light.

i am assuming f40 is a newer version of f30? and do you know when it will be available because i can't seem to find any purchasing info about it.

Oddly enough, from what I have gleaned online, the F40fd is actually the successor to the F20, rather than the F30/F31fd. The F40fd sports more megapixels than the F20/F30/F31 (8.3 vs 6.3) but, like the F20 and unlike the others, restricts the selectable ISO and manual controls.

I'm sure the sensor was bumped to 8.3 mp to compete on paper with newer digital cameras in the megapixel race. However, I wonder if the optimal resolution for Fuji's sensor is 6.3 mp, as the Fuji F20/F30/F31 and S6000fd have all gotten very positive reviews regarding image quality, yet the S9100, which uses the same technology but at 9.1 mp, has left some reviewers a bit disappointed with its image quality. I guess time will tell whether the F40 with 8.3 mp is a good move or not. The F40fd should be available in a month or so.

Has the same battery and flash as the F20, too.

The online chattering classes expect an F50 to be announced at PMA.
