Was thinking af getting the SD700IS then saw the 800. Is there a big difference between the two besides the wider angle on the 800?

Is there something in the same price range that is better or comparable to these?

This is going to be a general use camera...indoor and outdoor. Something I can carry around that is small and takes good pictures.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I read several comments essentially stating that the SD800IS has inferior picture quality to the SD700IS.

Try checking out the reviews here, at Steve's Digicams, DPReview and elsewhere.

I've read reviews on both and it looks like they both do some things better than the other. Some reviews actually contradict others. I guess it is one mans opinion vs another.

I was hoping I could find someone here who has used both and had a preference.

i have the 800 and am very happy with it. i chose it over the 700 purely based on the focal range. i get much more use out of the wider 28mm than i would out of printing super high quality images at 8x10 size.

this is a good review to be looking at if you haven;t seen already.
