Ok I am really trying to learn this camera and not use it strictly as a fancy point and shot!
What is the advantage of setting it at 6MF vs 6MN? I realize the F is a bigger file.

Standard or Chrome Mode? I did shoot with it in Chrome mode but felt the colors were so bright. Would this be best to use if I was in place like Universal studio where you want the bright colors to pop? But not for pictures of my kids playing?

Can you shut off the digital zoom perm? I haven't totally figured out why you would use digital zoom.

Also some where I read on a post...not sure if it was here or somewhere else. That if I was taking any picture with sky in it to have the camera set on a certain setting. I can't find this post anywhere so maybe I dreamed it.
But once summer comes I will be taking pictures of my kids diving so lots of sky will be in the picture. In the past the sky color has been washed out with my fuji s5100. SO any input on how to get good diving pictures would be a plus. Luckily at this stage of diving we aren't dealing with high Degree of difficulty dives. But I would like some nice shots.

I'm just learning too. I think it was in this site that a suggestion list was made for general shooting. If I remember correctly it was suggested to use landscape mode if there was sky in the shot.

Hopefully today I'll be able to experiment a little more. Might have to be indoors though, it's -29 celsius (-18 F) outside with snowsqualls.

If your shooting jpg then you want to use 6mpF, it uses the least amount of in camera compression. If your shooting RAW then it doesn't matter, the shot is uncompressed.

If you really want to make the colors pop then use chrome, otherwise for everyday shooting I use standard. Chrome makes it real easy to blow out your highlights so be careful using it.

I believe that the digital zoom is off by default but if not you can turn it off in the menu.

For static objects with sky you want to use landscape but if your outside shooting moving objects your going to want to shoot in sport mode. I believe landscape mode sets the focus point to infinity so the image will look flat, or no depth of field. If your shooting jpg I would make use of the final 3 burst mode to help get the shot.
