I was wondering (and S3 users please don't take this the wrong way) if it is worth posting in this forum if you don't own a 'S' series camera. I have noticed that if you make a post about just about anything other than a 'S' series then it usually does not seem to create that much interest. For instance on the first page of threads at the time of writing there were 21 posts, 13 of those dedicated to 'S' cameras.

This is not a bitch but a legitimate question :)

Both the A and SD series get many questions and some lively discussion, as well as some dedicated G6 and G7 users. A lot more discussion happens in the "Which Camera Should I Buy" forum, but people seem pretty eager to find out what these cameras can do.

The S2 and S3 are good cameras i think thats why they draw the interest because alot of people that come here own them. I dont think there are as many that have the other models, if they do they dont coem around or have questions about those. There is a dedicated S2/S3 forum just for this camera as well. Most of the people on that forum mainly use the S3.

Maybe the other model canon cameras are easier to figure out with just the basic settings. The S3 has a few in depth settings that draw attention

a lotta ppl own the S cameras..
but also a lot of ppl own A series as well as SD series..

the difference?
most S owners are photog enthusiasts..
most A and SD series owners are point and shoot ppl who just want to.. well.. point and shoot ;)

they dont come here to discuss how to take the best shots or post pics of their families and friends (thats what they shoot the most i believe)

S owners however are very excited about their cameras, they come here to discuss its features, tips, tricks, post photos of landscapes, objects, etc.. n get comments for improvements etc...

n i think thats the reason why most threads here are about the S2, S3

3/4 of the way down the first page in this forum- there is a thread stareted to be about posting pictures from cams other than the S2/S3 and only two people have posted pictures.. find out if it's worth it to post and put some pictures in there!

All the prior posts have been pretty dead on.. most of the people who have A and SD series cameras don't bother themselves too much with 'professional style' photography or composition and so have no use in a place like this. But all the regulars here are always more than happy to comment about pix coming from other cameras.

So.. head on over to "some OTHER pix" and add yours to the growing mix!!

... of course, there are exceptions. I own an A640 and consider myself to be a photo enthusiast.

The reason I went with A640 is that it strikes the right balance (for me) between being feature loaded, lots of mpixels, optical zoom, and smaller size and weight. From my own personal experience of owning an SLR previously, I found that if the camera is too big and heavy, I simply tend not to take it places. The end result: I don't take all the photos I want to take.

Many of the S3 owners will say the exact same thing; the only difference is that they are willing to take on a little extra size and weight to get some of the extra cool features.

Cory posted an great forum "other pics". Give it a shot. I own the S3 and am not a professional. I take tons of pics of famiy and friends but choose not to post them. You can post whatever you want. The people on this site are very supportive of everyone. I have posted some pics that weren't very good but they offered the support to improve my shots.

I love to see what everyone takes for pics, please post yours. The pics are more then welcome:D :D
