I am planning a 2 week road trip & want to mount a camera in my car & have it take a picture every 5-10 minutes. Here's what I'm looking for:

Image stabilization, since the car will be moving.

Interval shooting. A limit of 100 pictures wouldn't be high enough, but 500 or so probably would. No limit would be best, but trying to not spend a lot. I don't want the camera to create the time lapse movie itself- I want to do that part so I can have 1 movie instead of several.

Looking to spend around $400, but less would be better.

Thanks!

Canon Powershot S3 (or older model S2) almost fits the bill, but has that 100 picture limit. Kodac has some bridge cameras that have time lapse, but they too seem limited (by one worse, to 99). So, I think you're out of luck. I wonder if you'd have better luck with a digital video camera? (An area where I have no knowledge.)

Hmm. On the other hand, 100 * 5 minutes = over 8 hours. You could set a timer or something and reset once (or twice) a day. Or go with 10 minute intervals and you've got almost 17 hours....

If you have a laptop with you you can use image capture software to get any series of shots you choose.

I would say, software is the best option. There's plenty of time lapse software available. All you have to do is load the pics you take into the software and it would create a time lapse movie for you. MovieSalsa is one such software
